DISTRICT SWIM MEET …..

It’s that time of the year when Mothers, Fathers, Grandmothers, and Grandfathers travel to faraway lands (Aurora IL.) too support and watch their children/grandchildren compete in the annual district swim Meet. Last Saturday, as in past years, Kris and the kids were on the road by 6 a.m. to meet the 7 a.m. start time. Wendy, Connie and I arrived around 10 am trying to time our arrival to maximize the time we can see the kids compete. While the meet can be 12 hours long (this year they combined the girls and boys into a one day event) the actual time the kids swim is counted in minutes or in some cases, seconds. So there are times when hours go by before a “Heat” where one of the kids is swimming starts. Then, in what seems like the blink of an eye (one minute and six seconds later, Cody’s 100 yard free style time) you sit and wait for the next Heat someone you know is in, which may be a a few minutes later or a few hours later. Cody, Tiffani and Echo are very proud (not to mention Mom, Grandpa and Grandma's) that they best their times in some Heats and walked away with metals. Echo did so well that she qualified for the State meet, again! Last year Echo qualified for the State meet but was unable to attend. Next week Echo will travel with the family of a friend to the 2007 Illinois/Missouri Area YMCA Championships on Saturday, March 10th (Girls)at the University of Missouri, Columbia Missouri. Kris and her friend, Jeff had made prior plans to go to Vegas so will not be able to make the trip. Matt may be visiting Sandy that weekend and hopes to see Echo swim. The Meet will be held at the Mizzou Aquatics Center
