Two homes - twice the work - welcome to my world...

I must apologize to all for not writing anything for some time. Wendy and I have been busy with projects at both houses. After Connie’s passing the girls have been going over once a week for several hours going through their parents belongings. Every time they turn around they find something that has a story. There are lots of stories in this old house, and some tears that go along with them. After which there is swimming at Holly’s. Bill and his father in-law built the house in 1949, starting with the basement and living in the basement until 1952. Wendy was told that the house was latterly built around her while she was in a crib.

It is Connie’s wish that the three daughters serve as exactors and that they “share and share alike”. Things are going along Ok. Items of mutual interest are decided by drawing names from a hat.

Wendy and I first thought that the value of the house would prohibit us from buying out Sue and Holly. After talking to a couple realtors and being shocked as to how much I was off (high) in my estimate of its value, the girls worked out a sale price and as it turns out we are able to buy the sisters out. It had been Connie and Bills hope for some time to somehow take care of their daughters and Grandchildren but did not know how to do this at the same time being fair to all. As you may know we spoke to Kristina who has been living with her boyfriend and his parents for several years. Kris and the kids are very excited about moving out and into her grandparent’s home.

I have been doing a couple upgrades that were in need of maintenance. A new roof and furnace installed by contractors, and insulation in the attic (Cody, Matt and I) will go a long way in keeping down the electric and heating bills.

Among several interesting finds in the house I ran across this promotional yard stick. I can not help but wonder what PR person thought this one up?
