Hard Drive Crash and Burn

The last few days have been spent taking my Dell computer to the “Geek Squad” for a hard drive removal and replacement. A week ago I noticed that the “Boot up to Windows XP was taking longer. I finally got a message that a Windows XP file was missing or had been corrupted. I ran a diagnostic CD that came with the Dell with no luck. I thought that I might have made things worse but a Geek told me that I had not. He knows who is paying the bill. Some three hundred forty dollars later along with several hours of restoring and updating soft wear (not done yet) I am back up and running. What a lesson this has been! While I do burn CD backups for a couple of my more important programs Wendy and I lost a great deal of information including recipes, music, pictures, Word files, e-mail files to mention a few. Scott has the right idea and I do believe that the idea of storing your information through internet companies is and will become more and more the way to go. At the very least I will be backing up ALL of my files on CD. If you haven’t, do yourself a big favor and burn those CD’s now!

  1. So sorry to hear about your misfortune. I wonder what could have caused the XP program to disappear. Did the geek say? Virus?

In any case I've taken to store things on an external hard drive 150 gb for about $90 at Sam's--faster, easier and more storage.
