Cooooooold days in Elgin
A posting is past due so here goes. GO BEARS! Kristina and I continue to workout three times a week, trying to get into a healthier lifestyle. Kris has me up to ¾ of a mile each day swimming on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. She blows past her father in the lap lanes. We both still struggle with poor eating habits but pledge to try harder. This time of the year is exceptionally hard for me when it comes to eating. Not to make excuses but it all starts around Christmas and continues through mid February with several birthday dinners, Christmas dinners / food, anniversary dinners, Super Bowl (GO BEARS!!) food fest and yet more birthday dinners. What’s that? I hear Wendy calling me for lunch. It was much easer to quit smoking, for once I had removed the cigarettes from my life I was not opening my refrigerator and looking a cartons of them, three times or more a day. We are definitely a society that celebrates with food! I know, Iknow, it's what you eat dummy... we are working on it.
Most of my blog readers know of my recent visit with a cardiologist who was kind enough to leave two stents in my right coronary artery. All is well and the symptoms that started it all are a thing of the past. I have a follow-up with him in six months. This leaves me with the ability to take care of another health issue that has been giving me a pain in my knee since prior to the heart issue. On Monday Feb 12th I will have outpatient surgery on my right knee to remove cartilage that is causing me considerable discomfort. I suspect we will go out for dinner to celebrate the end of this month! ha,ha, ha. GO BEARS!!!
Next few days are forecasted to be the coldest of the year with wind chills any where from -20 too -30 below zero. That’s probably a heat wave for those poor soles that live in Wisconsin or Minnesota. That’s OK. Think warm thoughts… GO BEARS!!!!
